We are a networked community focused on women's leadership development in edtech.

We are an inclusive, networked community of educators, technologists, and business experts focused on leadership development for women in education technology. By connecting, investing in, and showcasing the emerging cohort of women edtech leaders, our goal is to accelerate the impact of education technology for learners everywhere.

We build connections and skills that lead to stronger businesses, better products, and different schools. We create a community, united on the local, national, international, and digital levels, committed to support and innovation, driven to make change. We are moving the needle in education forward.

Our Values

Community. Inclusivity. Visibility. Impact.

EdTechWomen was inspired by women’s influence in the field of education. Several great platforms exist for women in technology, but we noticed that they did not attract many women in education, particularly educators. EdTechWomen brings together women and their supporters across the vast education ecosystem and gives them a place to connect through the values of community, inclusivity, visibility, and impact.

  • Community: EdTechWomen is community of women linked through authentic connections, that offer opportunities for creation and collaboration. It is more than a network, it is about bringing us together, so that we can move all of us forward together.
  • Inclusivity: EdTechWomen is a platform to bring together members across the expanse of the edtech ecosystem, including educators, business leaders, technologists, students, and consumers. It is an inclusive community of women of all ages and backgrounds. It is open to everyone with a vested interest in edtech and the power of women's roles in it.
  • Visibility: EdTechWomen are leaders, decision-makers, and experts. We want the world to hear our voices and provide the platforms, opportunities, and events where what we think, do, dream, and stand for can all be heard by the greater edtech ecosystem.
  • Impact: EdTechWomen exists because a group of women came together that all wanted to see the edtech ecosystem grow, accelerate, and expand it's impact. EdTechWomen offers a network and platform to spread the positive impact of edtech and give members the skills and opportunities to make change a reality.

CONNECT WITH ETW

EdTechWomen exists on three fronts; local chapters, national conference events, and our community blog. Through local chapters organized by women from all aspects of edtech we are able to offer community building networking events and professional development opportunities. On the national level our co-founders organize conference networking socials and development events aimed at getting the voices of our community recognized on the national stage. Through our blog we aim to bring content relevant to all aspects of the edtech industry, written by everyone from educators in the classroom to women operating their own businesses and software companies. Opportunities to get involved at all levels are available!

Chapters are popping up around the country by women in the edtech community who volunteer to come together and organize events under the mission and values of EdTechWomen. Chapters are currently active in Austin, Baltimore, DC, and New York City.  Don't see your city listed? Check out articles on our Resources page to start a chapter of EdTechWomen in your city!

WRITE FOR THE BLOG

We see the EdTechWomen blog as a place for women working in all aspects of edtech to get their voices heard by the entire edtech ecosystem and everyone else that it influences. Whether you are a classroom teacher exploring and testing different products with your students or the owner of a company creating software for teachers, we want to hear what you have to say. Our Editorial Calendar Themes are as follows:

January-March :: Telling Our Stories - Women's Impact in Tech, Education, and EdTech

March-May :: Creating Different Classrooms - Experiences, Plans, Process, Visions, Challenges, Goals, "The Future"

Each of our Editorial Calendar Themes are designed to provide a focus and goal for writing while still allowing the content to come from all of the many aspects of edtech that our community is working in. It is our goal that the EdTechWomen blog be a go-to resource for the greater edtech community by offering unique perspectives, honest experiences, and a critical eye aimed at propelling all of us forward.

Please send submissions to sehreen@edtechwomen.com and margaret@edtechwomen.com as they will be reviewed prior to publishing. We are happy to provide feedback!
